Beyond Land Acknowledgements

We acknowledge that we are gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Coast Salish People, including the Lummi (Lhaq’temish) Nation, the Nooksack (Nuxwsa’7aq) Tribe, who have lived on and cultivated these lands and waterways since time immemorial.

While land acknowledgement is necessary, it is on its own insufficient since we continue to benefit and privilege from occupying this land.

In an effort to move beyond land acknowledgement and towards action, we have pledged to dedicate 10% of any grant funding we receive to local Indigenous-led efforts or programs, provided that this does not violate any specific legal terms of the grants or funds we receive.
