#3. GET TO KNOW YOUR SCHOOL BOARD
School Boards are responsible for setting the direction and structure of the community’s schools, supporting the school superintendent and staff, making sure that schools are accountable to the public, and acting as community leaders.
Find out when your school board meetings are. These meetings are open to the community and there is time allotted for public comments. These are spaces where you can thank your school board for its efforts to implement anti-racist education or the Since Time Immemorial curriculum, or encourage them to do so.
Public comment is an integral part of School Board Meeting structure. Make sure you know your school district’s public comment protocol by visiting your school district’s school board website below. If there public comment info is not listed, email for info on how to submit one online or in-person.
Are you passionate about education and anti-racism? Consider running for election to your local school board! Do you know a great leader in your community? Encourage them to run for the school board! We can all be leaders in anti-racist education.
#4. REACH OUT FOR SUPPORT
